When I was young there were stories of supermodels eating cotton wool in order to stay fit. However, having grown up I know that even if there are those out there doing it, it is not a general rule and there is more to being fit than simply being skinny. If you have ever wondered what it is they actually do, here are a couple of clues and tips on how you can look like a top model.
An exercise routine

Adriana Lima has commented on the fact that people believe they exercise as much as Olympic athletes by saying that it may be true but with a different goal in mind. While the athletes strive for strength and stamina, models exercise to prevent excess fat, tone and achieve tasteful, feminine definition of muscles. They usually exercise 5 to 6 days of the week, sometimes even twice a day. The imperative is to fit the time to work out into your schedule which some of us find very difficult and use as a convenient excuse to bail. The work out usually includes cardio combined with sets of different types of squats, lunges, planks etc.
Time for bed
In order to stay energized, capable and eager to push through a busy day and a strict exercise routine, you need to find enough time to rest. It is said that an average adult should sleep approximately 8 hours a day. Try to allow your body to rest that much and adjust it by what you find feels good for you. ‘Beauty sleep’ is no fairy tale and it is best achieved if you set the time to go to bed to give yourself enough time to rest, to get rid of electronic devices in the room particularly glowing displays, to clean up the mess in your room to keep you stress-free, and sleep on your back.
Low Carb Low Fat
If you want to look and feel great, you have to get accustomed to an exercise routine combined with a suitable diet. As Victoria Secret’s models have recently revealed, a top-model’s diet on a regular day resembles the Low Carb High Fat regime. What LCHF dictates is that you watch your daily intake of carbs and make sure you do not eat any or as little as you possibly can and make sure they also come from healthy food such as fruit. However, what VS professional’s advised is that apart from carbs, you also need to stay away from fats. Eat lean meat and 0% fat dairy products. Make sure that both your food and the way you prepare it is healthy. I assume there is no need to tell you that deep-fried chicken breasts are not a part of a healthy meal. Try to make most of your meal high in protein and use a lot of green vegetables. Do not mix the carbs you eat throughout your day with the proteins. This will help your digestion.
Here is another supermodel secret for when they have an event coming up. You can do this if you have a dress you want to fit in. Drink liquids only. Alternatively, you can hire a trustworthy person to cook for you. Pre-cook your food for when you are traveling and make sure you only eat out in certain restaurants which will allow you to adjust their menu to fit your needs. If you spend a lot of time out and about, take healthy snacks with you, a protein bar or a tiny pack of raw nuts which contains only about 42 grams or a handful.
It is up to you now to try and implement the tips into your life. Generally, models agree that while they work, they do not have time for anything else so they need to help their bodies as much as they can before that time comes. You probably do not have an upcoming show, but depending on how good you have been with your regimen, allow yourself a couple of cheat days here and there just to get your spirits up and satisfy your cravings.
