Wild
“Wild” stars Reese Witherspoon as Cheryl Strayed, a woman who just lost her mother and her marriage. The movie showcases her rash decision to go hiking alone for three months at the Pacific Crest Trail.
Basically, it perfectly captures what it’s like for women to travel unaccompanied. She faced many dangers in her quest, which lead her to pleasures and terrors along the way. But they did not stop her from continuing her journey that ultimately brought her strength and healing.

Eat Pray Love
“Eat Pray Love” is a film adapted from the novel of the same name. The movie stars Julia Roberts, whose character had everything including a successful career, a house, and a husband. Unfortunately, she finds herself lost despite all of it.
After divorcing her spouse, Liz Gilbert decided to travel to three countries: Italy, where she learned how to nourish herself by eating food, India, where she understood the significance of prayer, and Indonesia, where she found true love and inner peace.

They met in their hospital beds, where they plan out their bucket list containing all the things they want to do before they die. They ended up travelling to many places including Paris, Africa, India, and Mt Everest in Nepal.
This story emphasises how their adventures together brought healing and joy in their lives.

Into the Wild
“Into the Wild” is based on a real life story. Christopher McCandless, played by Emile Hirsch, decided to leave his life in the city to pursue freedom from any obligations and relationships. He gave up everything he had including his family, his home, and his other possessions to go on a journey, which lead him to Alaska.
There he discovered his “real” existence. He was able to appreciate the world that surrounds him. His travels enabled him to heal from all his past hurts that includes his troubled childhood and the abusive relationship his parents had.
In all honesty though, travelling has been romanticised so much that people think it will bring them healing all the time. Surely, it depends on a case to case basis. However, this does not mean you would no longer enjoy yourself. You are in a new place, after all. Just remember to pack smart and plan your vacations well!
